Tang Yijun, a former chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been expelled from the Party and removed from his positions, as announced by China's top anti-corruption authorities on Monday.

His case, along with his illicit gains, has been transferred to prosecuting authorities for examination and prosecution, according to a statement released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision.

The statement highlighted that Tang resisted scrutiny from the Party organization and continuously violated regulations by accepting banquets and participating in arranged travel activities. Additionally, he accepted gifts, money and consumption cards, and allowed others to cover expenses that should have been personally paid.

Tang concealed personal matters that should have been reported to Party organizations, failed to truthfully disclose issues during organizational inquiries, and sought benefits for others while accepting bribes in cadre selection and appointment processes.

Moreover, it was mentioned that he abused his power to assist relatives in obtaining financial business and interfered in market economic activities and judicial proceedings.

The statement pointed out that Tang engaged in corrupt practices, misused his positions to aid others in business operations, company listings, promotions, case handling and unlawfully accepted significant amounts of money and assets in exchange.

Tang, aged 63 and a native of Shandong province, commenced his career in 1977 and became a Party member in 1985.

He worked in Zhejiang province for over 35 years. During his career, he held positions such as mayor and Party chief of Ningbo and deputy Party chief of Zhejiang.

Following his tenure in Zhejiang, he relocated to Liaoning province, where he served as acting governor and governor for nearly three years.

From 2020 to January 2023, he held the position of Minister of Justice. In early 2023, Tang was elected as the chairman of the CPPCC's Jiangxi Provincial Committee.

Tang came under investigation in April of this year for suspected severe violations of discipline and the law.
