North China's Shanxi province says it will provide 10 million yuan ($1.57 million) in subsidies for enterprises in their online promotions to give more Shanxi brands greater market access via e-commerce.

The announcement came from Wang Yixing, the provincial vice-governor, at a ceremony for local brand sales online in the capital, Taiyuan, on Nov 6, where Wang urged Shanxi companies and entrepreneurs to promote local brands as the province tries to increase consumer spending and promote local brands.

The online promotion has several segments, with the first one running from November 2015 to the end of January 2016, with the amount of government subsidies to be based on enterprises’ online sales volume.
