Qu Min, former vice-chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, pleaded guilty to accepting bribes totaling 68.43 million yuan ($9.59 million) during a public trial held by the Intermediate People's Court of Wenzhou city, Zhejiang province on Wednesday.

Qu confessed his crimes and made a final statement in court. The court announced that sentencing would be made at a later date.

Prosecutors accused Qu of taking advantage of his various positions from 2001 to 2022 to help companies and people in such matters as enterprise management, project contracting and post placement.

In exchange, he accepted property and money totaling over 68.43 million yuan directly or through relatives.

Prosecutors recommended Qu be held criminally responsible for his actions.

More than 30 people, including national lawmakers, political advisers and journalists, attended the trial.
