Most animals never see their parents! Some insects, fish,amphibians(兩棲動物) andreptiles(爬行動物)hatch from fertilized eggs and face life completely alone. But we found some unusual animal dads.

雄性皇企鵝——為孵卵甘愿禁食

Penguin（皇企鵝）:A fatherEmperor penguin(皇企鵝，南極地區(qū)一種巨大的企鵝，頸部有桔黃色塊)withstands the Antarctic cold for 60 days ormore to protect his eggs, which he keeps on his feet, covered with a feathered flap. During this entire time he doesn't eat a thing. Most father penguins lose about 25 pounds while they wait for their babies to hatch. Afterward, they feed thechicks(剛出生的皇企鵝)a special liquid from their throats. When the mother penguins return to care for the young, the fathers go to sea to eat and rest.

皇企鵝是唯一在南極大陸沿岸過冬的鳥類，并在冬季繁殖。雄性皇企鵝為了呵護雌企鵝產(chǎn)下的卵，會在隨后的兩個月或更長時間內(nèi)不吃不喝，全心盡力用自己的身體給后代取暖。孵卵時，雄企鵝將卵放在兩腳的蹼上并用肚皮蓋住，在這其間，雄企鵝的體重將減輕11公斤。 

雄絨猴——“賢夫良父” 悉心照子

Monkey（絨猴）:Marmosets(在南美洲亞馬遜河流域，生長著世界上最小的猴子——絨猴。絨猴非常罕見，毛如厚絨，平均體重只有250克，體長如人的中指般大，被戲稱為“拇指猴”)are tiny South American monkeys. The fathers take care of their babies from birth. When the marmoset is born, the father cleans it, then carries it to the mother only when it needs to be nursed. When the baby can eat solid food, the father will feed it.

在“絨猴”家族里，雄絨猴充當著“賢夫良父”的角色。雌絨猴生下子女后，只在喂奶時抱上它們一小會兒，照料孩子的工作全落在雄絨猴身上。雄絨猴會為小絨猴清洗身體，等到小絨猴不再吃奶時，它還會親自喂小家伙們進食。

公沙雞——為兒尋水 疲于奔波

Sandgrouse（沙雞）:A father Namaqua sand grouse of Africa's Kalahari Desert flies as far as 50 miles a day in order to soak himself in water and return to his nest, where his chicks can drink from his feathers!

在非洲卡拉哈里沙漠，由于雨量稀少，所有的動物自出生就要面臨干燥的無情考驗。由于納馬夸公沙雞胸部的羽毛吸水性非常強，為孩子尋水的責任就自然而然落到了它們“胸”上——公沙雞每天都會到湖邊把羽毛在水里浸濕后再飛回家，以此滿足小沙雞對水的渴求。

達爾文蛙——用嘴撫育幼兒

Frog（達爾文蛙）:The male Darwin frog hatches his eggs in apouch(小袋子，文中指“達爾文蛙的聲囊”)in his mouth. He can eat and continue about his business until his tadpoles(蝌蚪)lose their tails, become tiny frogs, and jump out of his mouth!

達爾文蛙見于南美洲大部分地區(qū)，它們撫育幼蛙的方式與眾不同。達爾文雌蛙產(chǎn)下卵后，雄蛙用舌頭把卵卷起咽到聲囊里，之后雄性達爾文蛙則繼續(xù)進食。當蝌蚪長到?jīng)]有尾巴時，雄蛙便張開嘴，讓蝌蚪們跳出去。

奇異的雄海馬——生育子女

Sea horse（海馬）:The male sea horse has a pouch in which the mother lays her eggs. The father then looks after the eggs for about two months, until they hatch and leave the pouch. He continues to protect the young until they are able to live on their own.

相信嗎？雄海馬可是有孕育子女的能力哦！雄海馬腹部有一個小袋，據(jù)說可用來裝小海馬2000只。當雄海馬和雌海馬交配的時候，雌海馬的卵子會巧妙地掉到雄海馬的育兒袋里，這些卵子在海馬爸爸的腹袋里經(jīng)過數(shù)周后，便會孵化成小海馬。

雄性美洲鴕——照顧子女 獨擔大任

Rhea（美洲鴕）：Rheas(美洲鴕，外形與鴕鳥非常相似，但每只腳有三個腳趾，又被稱作“三趾鴕鳥”) are large South American birds similar toostriches(鴕鳥). Father rhea takes sole care of his young. From eggs to chicks, he feeds, defends, and protects them until they are old enough to survive on their own.

要論忠誠，美洲鴕肯定不是，因為它們沒有固定的配偶。正因如此，雄鳥要獨自承擔起孵卵、喂食、照顧和保護后代的責任。

雄鯰魚——用嘴孵化卵子

Catfish（鯰魚）：A father sea catfish keeps the eggs of his young in his mouth until they are ready to hatch. He will not eat until his young are born, which may take several weeks.

鯰魚大家都熟悉吧？和達爾文蛙相似，雄性鯰魚也是把雌鯰魚產(chǎn)的卵含在嘴里，以此孵出小鯰魚。不同的是，雄鯰魚在這段時期不能進食。

雄蟑螂——哺育后代 甘食鳥糞

Cockroach（蟑螂）： A father cockroach eatsbird droppings(鳥糞)to obtain preciousnitrogen(氮), which he carries back to feed his young.

不知道盡守父職的雄蟑螂，能否給名聲掃地的蟑螂家族掙來一點點聲譽？雄蟑螂為了哺育嗷嗷待哺的后代，會吃下鳥糞，僅為了給小蟑螂提取氮這一營養(yǎng)物質(zhì)。
